The distribution of IQ index scores in the psychometric profile of children with High Intellectual Potential (HIP): Is the heterogeneity specific to HIP?

Introduction The majority of studies on the HIP IQ attest a heterogeneity profile as specific to HIP. However, samples are recruited in clinical consultations. Thus, it is important investigate new from schools. Objectives We aimed analyze index scores children without disorders or school assistance. Methods WISC-V was conducted and analyzed 80 healthy (50 vs. 30 non-HIP), aged 7-to-13 years-old (mean 10y; SD 1.8). All were private public schools Paris. Results significantly higher non-HIP. In both groups, Verbal Comprehension Index highest while Processing Speed lowest. There (p=0.02) more heterogeneous profiles (64%) non-HIP (47%), with larger gap between lowest (respectively: median = 29.5 21.5). significant-positive correlation level general (r 0.42; p<0.001). Conclusions show better verbal, visual-spatial, fluid reasoning, working memory, processing speed scores. distribution similar groups. not children, but rather related score level.
